Architecture studio Block722 creates a boutique residential development in Athens that artfully balances bespoke façade grids with minimalism, natural colors and materials, as seen on WALLPAPER* magazine’s beautiful feature.

Block722 was called upon to re-imagine and complete the construction of an existing concrete shell in Athens in order to transform it into two design-led, duplex homes. The boutique, high end residential development occupies a narrow fronted, deep plot at the heart of Kifissia, a northern suburb that is famous for its leafy surrounds and urbane lifestyle.

‘B’ is a side table that plays with the idea of balance. Created as the juxtaposition of a monolithic and heavy base set against an extra fine top element, this is a piece that thrives through contrast. The table was designed by Block722 in Athens and was made locally by craftsperson Maan Halaoui, who bridges traditional techniques and modern construction methods.

Block722 initiates a collaboration with contemporary Greek artist Pantelis Chandris in a commissioned art piece for a special client! In the artist’s words: “The art piece entitled ‘Post-landscape’ captures through its form, the unique morphology of the landscape in Kavousi, Crete. The piece attempts to use art as a means to presenting not only what is visible, landscape as a geological configuration of the Earth’s crust but to expose the plasticity of a deeper, embedded memory of this particular place…”

At the foot of Belview Hill lies an urban property surrounded by vegetation and striking views of Bondi Beach. The architecture effortlessly blends with the nature by utilizing large openings, soft transitions, and natural materials that emanate a warm and welcome feeling.
