In this project, we aimed to create a link between the traditional style of cafés and fast-food joints in 90’s New York, and the characteristic street-food joints that can be found nowadays in every corner in Athens. Comfort and luxury are traded out to vintage boldness, creating a rough and energetic, yet sophisticated atmosphere. The spatial contrast plays majorly into this role. The dark blue metal and glass façade contrast with the warmer, softer interior. The main siting space is covered entirely by an artificial skylight, bathing the space in diffused light, contrasting the traditional candle-lit, 5-star restaurant. This is not a place for a romantic dinner. It is a place to grab a quick and enjoyable bite, before you go on with your busy day.
